Kakuro is an addictive puzzle to rival Soduko. This work includes simple rules to get you started with 120 original puzzles from beginner to boffin level, with hints and tips to give you a head start. The latest puzzle craze to hit the UK - Kakuro - is even more addictive than Soduko! Regularly featured in the new Berliner sized "Guardian" newspaper, the puzzle is called Kakuro in Japan (where millions of puzzle Kakuro books are sold), cross sums in the US and Kakuro in the UK. The rules of the puzzle are simple to learn but difficult to master, and you can start on an easy puzzle and graduate to boffin level! A Kakuro consists of a grid of filled and blank cells similar to a crossword puzzle. Some black cells contain a diagonal slash from top left to bottom right with numbers in them, called "the clues". A number in the top right corner relates to an "across" clue, and one in the bottom left a "down" clue. The idea is to fill in the grid so that each set of blank squares adds up to the total to the left or above. Only the numbers 1-9 can be used, and the same number cannot be used more than once in each set. A number may re-occur in the same row or column in a different run. A Kakuro puzzle can come in various sizes from a simple 6 X 6 grid through to giant 30 X 30 brain melters. In this puzzle book, we feature 120 original puzzles, ranging in difficulty from starter puzzles to the more difficult. The rules are clearly explained with a step-by-step example to start you off. There are also plenty of tips to give you a head start, especially the tables of number combinations, which does away with the need to constantly add up!
