A starter unit for Key Stage 3 History - a series of seven engaging activities that introduce pupils to the key ideas needed to study history.
The Schools History Project first made an impact with its ground-breaking What is History? course which helped transform the teaching of history. Twenty-five years later this is What is History? for a new generation of pupils. It takes the key elements of National Curriculum History and introduces pupils to them through a series of speedy but engaging historical investigations drawn from the entire Key Stage 3 Programme of Study.
Pupils explore seven 'zones' of the history world: the 'time' zone, the 'enquiry' zone, the 'interpretations' zone; they 'why' zone; the 'significance' zone; the 'empathy' zone; and finally the 'improvement' zone
