Each pack contains a map of Middle-earth, a runic master ring, 40 oracle cards and an accompanying book.

The ring is key to the The Lord of the Rings where mighty rings of power generated their own magical forces influencing the lives of the characters living in Middle-earth. In all there were 19 rings: nine for mortal men, seven for the dwarves and three for the Elven kings. In addition, Sauron forged a Master Ring, through which he was able to influence the destiny of the whole of Middle-earth. Together the runic master ring, illustrated oracle cards and Middle-earth map form the basis of the Lord of the Rings Oracle.

This divinatory system works on the premise that symbolically, the realms of Middle-earth lie within each of us. Each of the realms are spheres of influence in our own lives. The questionner casts the ring across the map of Middle-earth, in order to see what sort of message may be revealed.

The accompanying book and oracle cards detail the meanings of the key characters and areas of the map, such as swamps,rivers and particular mountains. By noting where the ring falls on the map, the questionner can discover meaning and answers to questions asked of the oracle. The book also describes different ways of casting including daily reading or long-term readings.
