An early work by one of Science Fiction's grand masters
Anarchaos is a planet, inhabited by humans, where anarchy is the only law; where each man protects himself as best he can; and where the weak are soon dead. Malone's brother had dies that way, and Malone has come to Anarchaos, carrying a small arsenal of weapons, to find the man who killed him, knowing that he is facing an entire planet of enemies.

Donald E. Westlake, the winner of three Edgar Awards and a Mystery Writers of America Grand Master, died on New Year's Eve, 2008. He was 75.From Booklist:
Westlake, the renowned crime writer, penned this satisfying sf novel as a paperback original back in 1967 under the name Curt Clark. Its first hardcover publication should please both sf fans and Westlake's mystery-reading audience. The novel is a classic revenge story. Released from prison, Rolf Malone heads for Anarchaos, where the government is based on a philosophy that combines anarchy with corporate greed. Malone's goal is to uncover the fate of his brother. Although tough and amoral, Malone initially is no match for what he discovers on the hellish planet. Reduced to an animal existence, he plots revenge on a global scale. This fascinating exercise in genre bending successfully mixes science fiction with noir. Elliott Swanson
