Oksenberg was, at the time of his passing in February 2001, a senior fellow at the Institute of International Studies Asia/Pacific Research Center of Stanford University and the Hoover Institution. David Shambaugh is professor of political science and international affairs and director of the China Policy Program at George Washington University, and nonresident senior fellow in the Foreign Policy Studies Program at the Brookings Institution.
