A powerful and unsettling novel follows three unforgettable characters--Nina, a reclusive copyeditor, who, since her husband's death, has been obsessed with her brother Andrew's sexual exploits and indiscretions; Beattie, their mother, who spins her own tale of her children; and Andrew, who shares his own perspective on life--as they attempt to decipher, justify, and simply survive their lives. 30,000 first printing.
