MICHAEL BLAINE's fiction has appeared in The New England Review, The North American Review and American Fiction '97, among many others. Both Raymond Carver and Joyce Carol Oates have selected his short fiction for anthologies. His stories have been nominated several times for Pushcart Prizes. The Linoleum Sea was noted in Best American Stories 1993, edited by Louise Erdrich, as 'among the year's most distinguished.' He has written on books, media and politics for The Village Voice, American Report and other magazines.
Michael Blaine is a two-time winner of the New York State Foundation for the Arts Fellowship in Fiction Writing. A prizewinner in Katherine Anne Porter and New Letters short story competitions, he has also received the City University of New York Fiction Writing Fellowship three times. He is the founder and Editor in Chief of the literary magazine New York Stories.
Michael Blaine lives with his wife, the artist Rose Mackiewicz, and Willy the Wonderdog, in the wilds of upstate New York.
