9780749474614: Neuroscience for Learning: How to Apply Neuroscience and Psychology for Improved Learning and Training

Neuroscience for Learning and Development is about the psychology and neuroscience that underpins effective and successful training and learning. It will introduce relevant research and concepts and suggest practical tools, techniques and ideas that work in the real world to improve how trainers train and people learn. Readers will find new and more effective ways of working and will discover a sound basis for good practice. They will also discover the research that backs up what they are already doing well in order to make a convincing case to budget holders that they have evidence to support their projects and plans for great L&D.

The latest research behind multiple facets of training and learning will be covered, from planning to evaluation, including the science behind design and delivery of face-to-face, online and virtual learning, and how to create environments to make learning easier. This will provide evidence that will help trainers and Learning and Development teams persuade the rest of their organization of their value. Training and learning will be seen as evidence-based rather than 'soft and fluffy'.

This book will explain the science behind creative training delivery so that learners will be motivated, enjoy training, pay attention, remember what they learn and be able to apply it back at work. It will explain the neuroscience of attention, memory and habits and how to make sure people learn what they need to learn.

Readers will be able to distinguish the neuromyths from the neuroscience without having to become a neuroscientist themselves. They'll navigate their way through some of the latest research to find out which elements of brain science offer evidence for current practice and new ideas to try out, to continue to develop their skills and practice.

Descrizione del libro:

This practical, evidence-based guide equips Learning and Development practitioners with the science to deliver greater impact with their training, and the evidence that they are adding value to the organization.

L'autore:

Stella Collins has a BSc in psychology, MSc in Human Communication and is a Fellow of ITOL. She's worked in Learning and Development as a manager and as a trainer for 15 years and consistently uses the 'brain friendly' approach to design and deliver result based training and learning programmes with a creative twist. She has written two pocketbooks on Writing Skills and Webinars, both of which were based on how peoples brains absorb information and therefore how best to present it. She founded the Brain Friendly Learning Group, a development network for learning professionals and delivers 'brain friendly' Train the Trainer programmes nationally and internationally. For 3 years Stella has judged the Operational Category in the Training Journal awards and has a clear understanding of the challenges faced by trainers asked to deliver 'technical training. Stella says 'There is no such thing as a boring topic - just boring training'.
