John Malam studied ancient history and archaeology at the University of Birmingham, after which he worked as an archaeologist at the Iron Bridge Gorge Museum in Shropshire. He is now an author specialising in information books for children. He lives in Cheshire with his wife, a book designer, and their two children.Review:
'You Wouldn't Want to Be a Victorian Schoolchild!' genuinely resonates with the atmosphere of a Victorian school day. The teachers are suitably nasty, the pupils are suitably naughty, and the humorous attention to detail in the illustrations will make for an engaging look at Victorian school days. -- Junior Education 20020901
