Dr. Moore is Professor and Head of the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department and Director of the Materials Science Program at the Colorado School of Mines. He has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Surrey and a Ph.D. from the University of Birmingham, England. His research interests include synthesis and processing of materials as well as engineering materials and coatings. He is a Chartered Engineer (European professional engineer), a fellow of The Institute of Materials, ASM International, and the American Ceramic Society; a member of the Metallurgical Society of AIME, Materials Research Society, America Vacuum Society, and Sigma Xi; an overseas member of the Surface Engineering Committee, Institute of Materials (UK), and has been the organizing chairman of numerous international conferences.
