Recensione:
The first generation Mustangs are the most coveted and collectible of all Mustangs. Original Mustang 1964 1/2 - 1966 will help you restore your Mustang to 100% originality with the aid of exceptionally crisp color photographs that guide you step-by-step through the entire process. Serial and engine numbers, paint codes, trim, options, and technical tips presented are invaluable aids for do-it-yourself restorers. Colin Date's expert techniques help you avoid the pitfalls that often ruin an otherwise successful restoration project .Mustang review, October, 2009...As the title suggests, this book only covers the popular 1964 1/2-66 model Mustangs. It starts with an introduction showing the basic differences between the years. Date plate information, dates on certain components, options, and many other details are covered. There are tons of nice pictures to go along with the great explanations. Under each model year, there are sections covering Body and Exterior Trim, Date Plates, Interior, Chassis, Engine Options, Exhaust, Transmissions, Clutches, Rear Axles, Suspension, Heating and Cooling, Electrical, Wheels and Tires, and more. And again, I cannot say enough about the great color photography that goes along with each section. 1965 and 1966 Mustang GT350's (Shelbys) are also covered in the same manner in the last chapter.I would say this is a 'must have' book for any 64 1/2-66 Mustang owner and/or enthusiast...Virginia Classic Mustang, December, 2009...To many, the 1964-66 Mustang ahs never been bettered. The Mustang today seems as popular today as it was when it was first launched in April 1964. It may seem odd, looking back at what we now know as the Muscle car era, but at the time the term 'pony car' was unknown. Consuquently, the impact on car buyers of all ages was amazing and 22,000 Mustangs were sold on the first day! This was an incredible feat, which wrenched sales away form dazed Chrysler and Chevrolet dealerships overnight. quite an achivment when you recal the car was only a falcon compact with a new body based on the Mustang II concept vehicle. As the author explaines, the trick was that in basic trim the car was cheap and cheerfull, but the options list was mind-blowing, allowing the potential buyer to order exactly what he/she wanted in the way of performance, confort, trim and accessories. this resulted in a surprsing variety of factory stock vehicles and ahs led to considerable problems in identifying 100-percent accurate restorations, or unmolested origional cars, to photograph for the book. It is estimated that only five percent of surviving firts-generation Mustangs are still in their factory showroom state. Over the yaers there have been a number of Mustang identification books guidebooks, but this one must surley be the the most comprhensive abd best illustrated. There is a potted history of the marque, from ford's General manager and Vice-President, lee Iacocca's original conception, to the cars arriving on the showroom floor. all the data necassery to identify specific cars from the door-mounted VIN plate is provided. The trim, colour, and engine codes, differences between Michigan and california-built cars, the available transmissions, wheel and tyre options and the factory accessories on offer and so on are all explained simply and clearly. There is also a section on the Shelby varients, including the 936 Mustangs sold to the Hertz renatl company and designated the GT35OH. The pictures are excellent and the text clear and informative. The book is highly recommended for Mustang owners and enthusiasts alike. --Classic American, Feb, 2010
