For a team that started in the ragtag AFL in 1960 and didn’t make its first national TV appearance until 1973, the Broncos have scaled great heights in their 55-year history, including six Super Bowl appearances and back-to-back world championships in 1997 and 1998. Along the way, Broncomania was born, spurring passionate orange-and-blue-clad fans to pack Mile High Stadium and Sports Authority Field at Mile High for decades and inspiring numerous come-from-behind victories. In this updated edition of Denver Broncos, author Jim Saccomano chronicles the team’s path to the top, recapping each season and crucial game. Alongside hundreds of photos of game action and profiles of legendary players like John Elway, Randy Gradishar, Tom Jackson, Craig Morton, Terrell Davis, Shannon Sharpe, and more, Saccomano helps fans relive the team’s greatest moments—the exploits of the “Orange Crush” defense in the 1970s, “the Drive” to send the 1987 AFC Championship Game into overtime, Elway’s third-down flip in the Super Bowl victory against Green Bay, and the signing of future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning in 2012. It is an ultimate celebration of a beloved team. About the authorJim Saccomano is the vice president of public relations for the Denver Broncos and has spent more than three decades with the team.
