Lewis Carroll is the pseudonym of Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (1832-1898), who wrote ALICE'S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND for the amusement of eleven-year-old Alice Liddell and her two sisters. Published in 1865, it was followed by THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS AND WHAT ALICE FOUND THERE in 1871.
Helen Oxenbury, one of today’s foremost illustrators, is the winner of England’s prestigious Kate Greenaway Medal as well as many other major awards. Her other books with Candlewick include BIG MOMMA MAKES THE WORLD, FARMER DUCK, IT'S MY BIRTHDAY, and SO MUCH. She lives in London.

This is a beautiful gift set of the two Alice books in a slipcase. Each book has it's own dust jacket and slipcase is in excellent condition. Most illustrations take up the whole page and are lovely colored whimsical or B&W line drawings. Pages are clean and bright; binding is tight. There are no tears, creases or writing. Red paper covered boards on both books have a colorful illustration on front cover that is clean and bright. This is NOT an ex-lib or a remainder. No evidence of having been read -like new. DJ's are complete and NOT price clipped. DJ has light rubbing along spine. Slipcase has light shelf wear & rubbing but it is solid, and firmly together. Hold the books tightly. Note: We use "Fine" book condition judiciously; only when the book exhibits no flaws. A Fine book closely approaches -As New- condition and may not have been previously owned.
