9780765374257: The Eye of the World: The Graphic Novel, Volume Five (Wheel of Time Other)

The fifth volume of the authorized, New York Times bestselling graphic novel adaptation of Robert Jordan's New York Times, USA Today, and Toronto Globe and Mail bestseller, The Eye of the World

Well-known comic book writer Chuck Dixon, working closely with the Jordan estate, continues his New York Times bestselling graphic novel adaptation of Robert Jordan's international bestseller, The Eye of the World. Volume Five, which collects issues 25-30 of the Eye of the World comic book, is illustrated by Marcio Fiorito and Francis Nuguit.

Separated by attacks by Darkfriends and scattered across the lands, Rand al'Thor and his friends and companions persevere, making their way to Caemlyn, where they hope to be reunited. But their roads have grown ever more dangerous.

Lan, Moiraine, and Nynaeve rescue Perrin and Egwene from the Whitecloaks. But five traveling together attract more attention than two or three traveling on their own....

Rand and Mat have encountered more than one Darkfriend, often barely escaping without injury. They're out of money and in too much danger to stop and work for more. Luckily, they make some new friends, but unluckily, Rand tumbles into a royal garden, where he is seized by the Palace Guards and hauled before the Queen....

Review:

“All of the dialogue is straight out of the book. Dixon is able to make the story flow on the page, without making it feel too dry or wordy. All the characters look like how I might imagine them. Fans of the books will be reminded of the things they enjoyed about the series in the first place.” ―Geeks of Doom

“I loved it. I really loved it. This is not just a beautiful visual aid to the story, by a means of being able to enjoy the story in a new way. I eagerly look forward to the next volume.” ―Richard Fife on Dragonmount.com

“Dixon and Conley are operating at an extremely high level, making superb storytelling choices not only within the confines of a single issue but when considering the series as a whole. Dixon's pacing is impeccable and his narration bang on. Conley's astounding, atmospheric artwork only reinforces Dixon's narrative framework. This series continues to impress with its strong storytelling and respectful treatment of Jordan's source material. Arguably one of the best comic book adaptations on the shelves today, The Eye of the World is quickly proving itself to be a series of craftsmanship and heart.” ―Broken Frontier on The Eye of the World: the graphic novel, Volume One

“The series should provide fans of the novels with an enjoyable take on an old favorite and possibly introduce new readers to this fantasy classic.” ―The Jersey Journal on The Eye of the World comic book

“The story feels like it was intended for the comic-book medium. That is probably in no small way due to Chuck Dixon's hand in this. I hope there are more such top-flight comic-book adaptations of popular fantasy series in the offing.” ―ComicCritique on New Spring: the graphic novel
