He is the co-editor-in-chief of New Directions for Adult and Continuing Education, a journal published by Jossey-Bass. He is the editor or coeditor of numerous books including Overcoming Resistance to Self-Direction (1994), Self-Direction in Adult Learning (1991), Professional Development for Educators of Adults (1991), and Ethical Issues in Adult Education (1988 ).
