He inscribed the book to William Safire on the half title: "To Bill Safire - With respect and also appreciation for his wonderful - Though too seldom heeded - advice on language. RHR." Additional note from former President Richard Nixon on his personal stationery to Bill Safire, recommending this book to him. He finished the letter with a personal note: "He's not yet in your class but he's getting there!." William Safire (1929-2009) served as a speech writer for Richard Nixon during his 1960 and 1968 presidential campaigns.
