Lovich is deputy director of the U.S. Geological Survey's Southwest Biological Science Center and coeditor ofBiological Diversity: Problems and Challenges. Ernst and Lovich were coauthors, with Roger W. Barbour, of the previous edition ofTurtles of the United States and Canada.
