Grade 5 Up While undersea treasure hunting is both romantic and exciting, only those with an avid interest will want to pursue Treasure Hunt . The cover illustration is a close-up color photograph of a diver which is sure to attract interest, but some readers will soon become bored with the too-lengthy descriptions of 17th-Century Spanish shipping and the Atocha . The many internal black-and-white photographs are of average quality. Sullivan's dry tone, while possibly caused by trying to keep the vocabulary as simple as possible, detracts from what should be an exciting story. In spite of obvious attempts to simplify languageat times, Sullivan does an excellent job of defining technical terms in contextmany younger readers will still find this to be difficult. A lot of good technical information is provided, and persistent readers will learn much about scuba diving, treasure hunting, and underwater archeology. They will just miss the excitement of the hunt. Susan H. Williamson, Homer Center High School, Pa.
