Perhaps the most successful textbook author in college publishing history, Gerard Tortora teaches microbiology and human anatomy and physiology at Bergen Community College in Paramus, New Jersey. With over 25 years of teaching experience, Jerry understands the importance of balancing student accessibility with the appropriate level of scientific content. Berdell R. Funke has spent over thirty years as a professor of microbiology at NorthDakota State University. He is currently teaching introductory microbiology, including lab sections, general microbiology, food microbiology, soil microbiology, and clinical parasitology. As a research scientist in the Experiment Section at North Dakota State, he has published numerous papers on soil and food microbiology. Bert brings his extensive teaching and research experience to bear in authoring key content areas of Microbiology: An Introduction.

Christine L. Case is a registered microbiologist and professor of microbiology at Skyline College in San Bruno, California, where she has taught for the past 25 years. In addition to teaching and affiliations with numerous scientific organizations, Chris contributes regularly to professional literature, develops innovative instructional methodologies, and maintains a personal and professional commitment to conservation and the importance of science in society.
