Rich Strolis started as a guide on the popular Farmington and Housatonic Rivers in Connecticut. He later transitioned to commercial tying, speaking engagements, and teaching many facets of both fly fishing and fly tying. His fly patterns, although based out of the Northeast, have a strong following and relevancy across the globe. He is a signature tier for the Montana Fly Company, which currently produces ten of his patterns, with several more on the market in 2016. His patterns have appeared in many national publications, including Fly Fisherman, Eastern Fly Fishing, and more. He lives in Simsbury, Connecticut, with his wife, Megan, and two daughters, Tessa and Nora. You can follow his work at his website, www.catching-shadows.com.
