What most distinguishes the photographs in this collection is the high regard for humanity. Whether he was depicting a quiet moment or intense action, Haas always couched his subjects in a lyrical, often poetic style. Best known for the color photography that appeared in such books as The Creation ( LJ 9/15/71), Haas was clearly a brilliant photographer who relied upon his intuitive abilities to observe and then capture key moments on film. His kind of photography cannot be taught and really cannot be learned. He simply had the eye, the disposition, and the native talent of a great artist. This large-format book is beautifully printed on quality paper and is well worth the price. Highly recommended for all public and academic libraries.
