Recensione:
"Dutch photographer Ari Marcopoulos demonstrates his ability to see art in mundane, habitual urban life with Directory, a collection of his work and true documentation of American subculture... Directory mocks our world dominated by smart phones and laptops, questions our perceived sense of power over nature and finds beauty in the unexpected." ~City Arts
"Marcopoulos' work feels like a blancing act between art and documentary, if it is even necessary to make that distinction in his case. But he makes it look easy. He takes the pictures that we all want to take, but can't... Some of the images are accompanied by insightful commentary from Neville Wakefield, adding yet another layer to this page turner." ~The Last Magazine
“A serious yet intimate body of Ari’s recent work, this is a must have for any fan.” ~SLAMXHYPE
"Ari Marcopoulos’ latest body of work Directory (Rizzoli) is indeed an index, but instead of phone numbers or businesses you’ll find 1200 pages of irreverent black and white Xeroxed images of friends, strangers, family, newspaper headlines, teenagers, cars, graffiti, surfboards, skateboards, landscapes... Attesting to his prodigious visual talent, Marcopolous managed to fill an entire phone book worth of really, really strong images with this visual noise." ~Oakazine
"...whether you are attracted by the photo work or just the concept itself, Directory (the photographer’s tenth book) is a raw look at underground art, the likes of which has not been seen on bookshelves in a while now." ~Blogonbooks.com
