Descrizione libro Hard Cover. Condizione: Very Good+. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. First Edition. 143 pp, 8vo (8 3/4" H). B&w illustrations, march. "The Regiment (repelled many offensives) in its early life - particularly at Minorca in 1756, Salamanca, Waterloo, Inkerman, Sebastopol and Spion Kop in the South African War. It was one of the few British regiments to make the desert march across Abyssinia for the attack on Magdala, and also fought in the Zulu War. Wherever the fighting was most deadly and the odds against victory most daunting, it is safe to assume that the King's Own were there. The Regiment boasted twenty battle-honours when the Great War broke out, and in those dreadful four years of slaughter it was to add a further 59 - Le Cateau, Retreat from Mons, Marne 1914, Aisne 1914, Festubert 1915, Loos, Passchendaele, Macedonia 1915-18, Suvla, Tigris 1916, Baghdad; these are just a few of them. In the Second World War the King's Own waited patiently for the ships at Dunkirk; fought in Syria, North Africa and Italy; sweated out the siege of Malta; penetrated hundreds of miles behind the Japanese lines as Chindits. All these actions, and more, are described in this vivid and action-packed story." Previous owner's small stamp on each of front endpapers, tiny bump to bottom of spine. Dust jacket has light edge wrinkling, minor rubbing. Codice articolo 20816
