Charles Hapgood's classic 1966 book on ancient maps is back in print. Hapgood produces concrete evidence of an advanced worldwide civilisation existing many thousands of years before ancient Egypt. He has found the evidence in many beautiful maps long known to scholars. Hapgood concluded that these ancient mapmakers were in some ways much more advanced in mapmaking than any people prior to the 18th century. It appears they mapped all the continents. The Americas were mapped thousands of years before Columbus. Antarctica was mapped when its coasts were free of ice. There is evidence that these people must have lived when the Ice Age had not yet ended in the Northern Hemisphere and when Alaska was still connected with Siberia by the Pleistocene, Ice Age 'land bridge'.

Descrizione libro Turnstone Books, London, revised edition, 1979, 1979. Laminated illustrated wrappers, small 4to, xii, 276 pp, ills, maps, ports. From the blurb: "This remarkable book provides concrete evidence of the existence of a worldwide culture in prehistoric times, that mapped the whole earth with a technology that was lost until comparatively modern times. Professor Hapgood and his students succeeded in discovering the method of construction of certain key Medieval and Renaissance maps which were clearly compiled from much older source maps. These forgotten sources apparently knew the Antarctic coastline ice-free and remembered remnant ice sheets in Northern Europe. They could determine longitude and use spherical trigonometry millenia before these were "invented". The maps also show evidence of catastrophic upheavals in the earth's crust, a notion that is now gaining scientific credence." Wrappers yellowed, otherwise Good. Codice libro della libreria ABE-32808
