This is the second edition of a book first published in 1993, devoted entirely to eating disorders in childhood and adolescence. The editors have have both worked in the field for 15 years and have unrivalled experience of this particular population. The contributors are all clinicians or researchers with whom they have worked over the years and each brings a unique experience of their own area of expertise. Topics covered include an overview of eating disorders in this population, epidemiology, aetiology, prognosis and outcome, assessment (both physical and psychosocial) and management, including specific types of therapy. Additional chapters deal with schooling and ethical and and legal issues. There are also contributions by a young person who had an eating disorder as a child and the mother of a young sufferer.

""This is an unusually successful book as it has the coherence of a single authored book but with the range of expertise, ideas and creativity of a multiauthored book. All of the chapters are clearly written and easy to read and yet they are brim full with clinical and academic detail. It will be an important resource on the shelves of all child and adolescent units and eating disorder teams." -Janet Treasure, Eating Disorders Unit, Institute of Psychiatry.""This is a comprehensive book, suitable for a wide range of professionals who deal with children and adolescents with eating disorders. It is clearly written and refers to known research in this area as well as offering practical guidance on assessment and management."-Anne Stewart, Highfield Family and Adolescent, The Warneford Hospital."
