In February 1661 the restored monarch Charles II made a progress through London, from the Tower to Whitehall and his coronation, passing through four triumphal arches constructed for the event. John Ogilby, Master of Revels, was commissioned to organize the spectacle for the procession. Published in 1662, his Entertainment contains texts of the poetry, notably translations of Virgil, descriptions and engravings of the four arches and details of the ceremonies.
