VG++ 16 pp., 13 monochrome photographs by Eugčne Cuvelier, and his father, Adalbert Cuvelier, both of whom developed a close friendship with Camille Corot and were influencesd by the Barbizon landscape painters. Working in the 1860s Eugčne Cuvelier used paper negatives and made salted paper prints, processes he had learned from his father in the 1850s, the older and more time-consuming processes providing softer textures and the more subtle tints of blue-black, lavender, rose, aubergine and grey. Essay by Malcolm Daniel, a fine copy of a lovely catalog for the Metropolitan Museum of Art exhibition, 8 October 1996 - 12 January 1997. Codice articolo 1071

Cuvelier, the French landscape photographer, is closely associated with the Barbizon painters Corot, Rousseau, Millet, Daubigny, and others.
