Consciousness is forever unfolding at the level of realization. The two creation allegories presented in the first, second, and third chapters of Genesis reveal very different levels of consciousness, which result in very different conclusions and, therefore, different modes of prayer. The original compilers of the Bible put the principle of the perfection of Being first and the problem of being second.
In this little book, we begin our study with Genesis 2 and 3, because, when this allegory is clearly understood, those who ask, "Why do bad things happen to good people?", will find their answer and then be more receptive to the principle of creation as revealed in Genesis 1. So with this in mind and with a pure motive of love for all seekers of truth, we present the last first and the first last.
Many years ago in one of his classes, Joel Goldsmith, speaking on the nature of prayer, said, in effect, that in order to understand prayer, one must understand the two creation stories as given in Genesis. My teaching has always focused on the spiritual principles of the Bible, and during 1981, my lectures reemphasized the principles revealed in these two allegories. Although I had taught these principles for many years, the subject had never been so thoroughly covered and recorded. With the loving assistance of Carolyn and Bill Bauer, many hours of classwork have been distilled into this book. For their editorial help, I am eternally grateful.
Joel always said to me, "Catch the idea, Virginia." This little volume will enable you to catch the idea of spiritual prayer, which is beyond words and thoughts.
