Since man first saw bumps on his horizon he's been applying names to them, even if just the purely descriptive. Thus it's easy to assume the origins of Switzerland's Dent Blanche ("white tooth"), France's Aiguille Verte ("green needle"), and Italy's Vesuvius ("emitter of smoke and sparks").
