Descrizione libro Quarter Leather. Condizione: Fine. First Edition. This book is in its original paper covered slip case which has some fading on one side. PRINTING: Type 16 point Poliphilus with Blado, set at The Whittington Press, Gloucester. The printing was completed by Nicolas McDowall at The Old Stile Press, Blackheath, London, on 'Zerkall mould made' paper. SIGNED by the author, 'Heather Tanner' and the illustrator, 'Robin Tanner' on the half title page. SIGNED in pencil by the printer and his wife, Nicolas & Frances McDowall, alongisde the printing details on the last printed page. Tucked inside the book is a folded leaflet, also printed at The Old Style Press and on high quality paper, which has an excerpt from 'Toilers of the Sea' by Victor Hugo. It is stated on the back of the leaflet that it was printed 'for you to keep in Toby's memory', 6 September 1985. Toby was Nicolas and Frances's adopted son. MAIN EDITION with 160 numbered copies. This is copy number 112, as shown at the top of the page detailing the printing of the book. Original purple Morocco backed decorative boards with bright gilt lettering on spine.TEXT: by Heather Tanner. ILLUSTRATOR: Robin Tanner. His 27 b/w illustrations were transferred on to blocks for printing by Nicolas McDowall at his press in Blackheath, London. Scarce copy and one which has particular appeal, showing the signatures of the printer and his wife who owned 'The Old Stile Press' and having the additional interest with the enclosed leaflet which they printed in memory of their adopted son, Toby.
