Descrizione libro Hardcover. Condizione: Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Fine. Minesweepers of the Royal Canadian Navy 1938-1945: Ken MacPherson; Vanwell Publishing Limited., St. Catharines, ON, 1990. Presentation copy. From the blurb Canada s minesweepers were cast in their designed role only once during WW2 in Canadian waters, though sixteen of them formed part of the vast Allied minesweeping effort during and after the Normandy landings of 1944. Most of the 84 spent their wartime careers as local escorts in west Atlantic waters. They were thus largely denied the attention paid by the media to those more conspicuous mid-ocean escorts, the corvettes, and frigates. It is hoped that this book will at last give the minesweepers their due. From the foreword - Eighty-four Canadian minesweepers served in world War II. This book contains black & white photos of many of the minesweepers that served during this period. This book, 110 pages measuring 214mm X 264mm. is in fine condition in a fine dust jacket that is now enclosed in a protective mylar wrap. A beautiful copy of a book on a mostly unknown Canadian naval service. Inscribed by Author(s). Codice articolo 2147
