The title of this book represents those of us cowboys who intend to become somebody's ancestor someday. Our writings & pictures on cave walls will be studied, scrutinized and mused over by Third Millinium folklorists. They will ponder the purpose of horns on mammals. Did the primitive animal caregivers, now known as Anamites, use any of the Protein Providers, "Pro Pops" (formerly called animals) for anything but food? They will look at 2015 cowboys as primitive. So much of what we understand and believe to be true today will barely be a footnote in a thousand years. The good part is, we get to be us today. A place in time that allows us to think our own thoughts without everybody being able to read our minds. A sky that is clear enough to see the stars. A relationship with nature's critters, large or small, that are not genetically modified clones. The opportunity to take a chance, and the God-given freedom to believe. As for the future of cowboys, I suspect there will still be a place for them on the fringes of civilization.

Baxter Black has spent a good part of his life entertaining some of the most independent, skeptical, hard-headed and gullible two leg-ged characters God put on Earth... cowboys, farmers, ranch wives, sheep herders, wheat growers, large animal vets, barrel racers, horse traders and poets. They are a colorful lot, usually have a lot to say and have a tendency to step off into a wreck on a fairly regular basis. Baxter paints their lives in words on a canvas that never seems to end. Sometimes he gets spattered on his own self. Some think it gives him character.
