Ultimate Slap Bass is a complete tutorial book, covering every aspect of the slap technique from the absolute basics through to advanced techniques such as double thumbing and popping, strumming, open string hammer-ons and how to combine slapping with other techniques in a musical way. There are over 200 exercises in the book, which are also featured on two audio CD s. The book also includes a detailed history of the slap technique, as well as biographies of all of the major contributors to the technique. Additionally, there are interviews with many of these players, including Marcus Miller, Stuart Hamm, Mark King, Stanley Clarke, Ray Riendeau and Victor Wooten.

Stuart Clayton has been a professional musician and writer for over seven years and has been a bass player for seventeen. He has worked as a staff writer for Bass Guitar Magazine for five years, and written seven instructional books for Sanctuary Publishing, including 100 Tips For Bass Guitar, Crash Course: Bass, Bass Xtreme, Giants Of Bass, Bass Styles and The Bass Guitarist's Bible. He has a busy schedule teaching and gigging as well as contributing to online guitar lesson site Lick Library. Stuart's main gig is as the bassist for legendary drummer Carl Palmer, of Emerson, Lake & Palmer fame, with whom he plays shows all over the world.
