A psychic girl uses her powers to save a Capuchin monkey from illegal pet traffickers and in doing so draws the attention of a callous drug baron in Brazil. Indigo is different from other twelve year old girls and she knows it. Brought up by her single mum to believe in auras and psychic energies, she is happy to be different. When she stumbles across a strange pet shop in Gloucester, she discovers a dark secret that takes her as far as the subtropical rainforests of Brazil to the dangerous streets of Rio de Janeiro. These are dangerous times for Indigo and she will need to use all her powers if she is to succeed.

Review:

Lucy Jenkins, Cotswold Life
"Brilliantly written with tremendous imagination, C J Gloucester manages to capture the feelings and emotions of a sensitive young girl which will instantly appeal to any child or adult who has an interest in the alternative. With detailed descriptions on meditation and raising issues concerning animal trafficking and the slums of Brazil, Indigo will inspire and enchant all who read it."

"There are lots of things about this lovely novel that I truly enjoyed. The whole adventure is steeped in mysticism and strange, sultry foreign flavours. It's most unusual compared to many first novels and I do like the other- worldliness that you've created in the book. Indigo is a beguiling hero and a good, strong, feisty lead character for your readers to identify with.
I'd like to congratulate you for coming up with such a great heroine - Indigo will certainly stick in my memory for a good while, as will her colourful mother Demelza and her American friend Brandon."

Jill @ Cornerstones
C J, you have created a heroine who is both original and 'different'. I'm sure young readers will be fascinated by the world you reveal as it switches from the Amazon rain forests and the favelas of Rio to the sleepy British village where Indigo and her mother live.
