Beckwe is a pretty girl, living in a village where the boys are trying to get her attention. Her biggest concern is who she will marry ... until her village is attacked. Created by an inspired group of teenagers from Portobello High School, Edinburgh. This book evolved out of a series of workshops with a history class of S2 students. Having studied the Transatlantic Slave Trade they took their ideas and learning to a new level through the Pencilling Creative Ideas Project. They created the characters, set the scene and wrote the storylines which were then written up by author Mary T Thomson. In the true meaning of Curriculum for Excellence this book has linked the history department, the art & design department, the business studies department, as well as working with external organisations such as the author, publishers, printer and parents. This is a book written from the teenagers perspective, and reveals how they envisaged life would have been.
