The history draws upon previously unpublished documents from Sir Giles Gilbert Scott's archive, and from the archive of the Benedictines of Downside Abbey who commissioned the church in the late 1920s. The book is lavishly illustrated with historic photographs and many of Scott's original plans and drawings, dating from the church's inception in 1927 to its completion in 1956.
