KANSAS PAST is a compilation of 28 historical vignettes, all true, some tragic, some comic, illustrating the lesser-known people, places, and events that were shaped by or helped to shape the state known as Kansas.
David Hann is a resident of Lawrence, Kansas, where he works for the University of Kansas when he's not traveling Kansas back roads or pouring through museum archives in search of the curious. Hann has lived to tell about being surrounded by running buffalo at night, in the rain, trying to coax a reluctant mountain lion cub from his car, and receiving a full-face lick from Skinny, a rather hefty buffalo at Ray Smith's ranch near Longford, Kansas.Review:
David Hann's book offers a quirky look at some of Kansas' forgotten characters, places and adventures. -- Lawrence Journal World, November 8, 1999
