He watches in disbelief as the driver lets MORE people and MORE animals on the already swaying and bouncing bus until it's ready to burst. "There's no more room. This bus is packed." said Hector. This bus is piled and stacked up to the roof and out the door!" But the bus driver hollered, "Just one more!" Come along with Hector as he learns a valuable lesson. There's always room for just one more.

Hector boards a crowded bus in his town in the Andes Mountains and sees that people, bags, and bundles are packed into every nook and cranny. As the driver stops to admit more people, the boy cries out, "There's no more room, this bus is packed.- we are piled and stacked up to the roof and out the door." But the driver yells, "Just one more!" Passengers come aboard with soda, animals, and even a fussing baby until, finally, a chain of events that starts with a burp causes the driver to lose control, and the bus lands, safely, in a ditch. The riders disembark and resume their journeys on foot, but when the driver removes a bicycle from the roof, the child asks him if there's room for "just one more." The man obliges, and they ride off together "down the bumpy road towards home." With its rhythmic, repetitive refrain, this book makes an ideal read-aloud. Children will quickly chant along with Hector each time he warns of the potential overload, and be especially amused by all the animals. Gamboa's cartoonlike watercolors extend the humor of the story and the hues nicely depict a warm day high in the mountains. Attractive endpapers have a handmade, fibrous look and complement this folksy tale.
