Jock Sturges presents twenty five plates selected from fourteen years of his career. These includes several of his remarkable images. They won't be new to those who have followed his publications before. However, here each plate contains a commentary on the opposite page. In it the photographer describes the family and setting from which the image emerges. What makes so much of his work stand out is his ability to relate to these subjects and their family. The trust and comfort he has earned is rewarded with the complexity of the character he is able to capture on film. Coupled with his eye for setting and attention to detail the results are remarkable.
