D. (Diana) R. Thompson has received accolades for her writing since childhood, and has been telling original stories to her children for years  She was born the youngest in a family of 12. As an army brat, and then as an adult who has moved cross-country two times with her own small children, she knows the joys and hardships of relocating.“For a very young child, toys are a big part of what the move is all about. When I wrote my first children’s’ book, I wanted to show children that the boxes come with, and they get unpacked.  MY NEW TOWN actually made my own toddler stop crying about packing boxes when she saw the box getting unpacked at the end of the story,” says Thompson, “then she understood.”Children’s books authoring contrasts with her background as Thompson graduated cum laude from Eastern Washington University with her BS in physics. She has enjoyed a rewarding career as an avionics engineer designing and creating aircraft cockpit systems.Thompson enjoys camping and backpacking, and has hiked across the Grand Canyon four times.  Thompson has also been an avid participant in community theatre.
