Hell Bent for Santa Fe was written in 1981, then shelved for 20 years. The Texan-Santa Fe Expedition was such an obscure piece of history there wasn't a lot of interest in the event. After the Dead Man Journey book by a Texas regional author and the television movie of the event I decided to do a complete rewrite and give the book another chance. I'm as fascinated by it today as I was when I was poring through the Texas State Archives and other historical documents to write the original work.About the Author:
An avid outdoorsman reared in New Mexico, Jack Purcell writes about the people and places of the southwest. Other books by Jack Purcell include The Lost Adams Diggings - Myth, Mystery and Madness, Desert Emergency Survival Basics, and Poems of the New Old West - Cowboys, Casinos, Truckers and Trotskyite Dogs. Purcell now resides in North Central New Mexico
