Mark Barlow holds Dan rank in Kodokan Judo, Tomiki Aikido, Jikishinkage Ryu Aikijujutsu, Seki-Ryu Jujutsu, and is the Chief Instructor of Akayama Ryu Jujutsu. He began his training in the mid-1970's under Alex Marshall with whom he continued to study until Mr. Marshall's death. With Shihan's permission, Barlow Sensei also studied with such notables as Gene LeBell, Toshiaki Takikawa, Tetsuro Nariyama, Karl Geis, and Riki, and Terry Chamkow. Barlow Sensei has served as a State Representative for the United States Jujitsu Federation and as a Board Member on the United States Judo Association Jujitsu Committee. He is a member of the American Society of Law Enforcement Trainers. Along with Mr. Marshall's other senior student, Richard Worthington Sensei, Barlow Sensei is dedicated to promoting Akayama Ryu and ensuring that Mr. Marshall's art continues to thrive. In the past few years, Barlow Sensei has introduced Akayama Ryu to students across the U.S. and Caribbean.
