Tino is a young tortoise from the Mojave Desert. A tortoise is a type of land dwelling turtle. He has a high domed shell and elephant shaped hind legs that help him withstand the intense heat of the desert. Tino, like most desert tortoises, spends most of his time in his underground burrow and hibernates there during the cold winter. He is never in a hurry to find water because he can wait a year or more between drinks. Most of the moisture in his diet comes from the grasses and plants that he eats in the spring. Tino lives very comfortably in extreme conditions of the desert and will likely live to the ripe old age of about 100 years.Tino Turtle invites adventurous children and their parents to enjoy a magical series of original stories.
