It's true that children do not come with instructions, but there is help in this fine handbook. Parenting Young Children gives parents the tools to tackle the special challenges of parenting infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Packed with real-life examples and practical guidance for parents and families on such issues as anger, bedtime, bullies, crying, discipline, fears, lying, nightmares, social development, tantrums and much more.

This practical guide for parents is one of the most widely used and earliest of all parenting programs. Topics covered in this handbook gives parents the tools to tackle the special challenges of parenting infants, toddlers and preschoolers. • information on how young children think, feel, and act
  • skills that can increase your enjoyment and effectiveness as a parent
  • skills that can develop your child’s self-esteem and confidence
  • support for yourself as a parent and as a person
  • effective ways to teach cooperation and discipline

Review:

“An excellent first book for any beginning parent. Practical, sensible, down-to-earth advice on every possible preschool problem. Easy to read, easy to put into practice.”
Louise Bates, PhD

“I felt you were writing about my own children! It's wonderful how my respect toward them has taught them to talk to me with respect also.”
Renee W. Malae, parent, Matheson Head Start, Salt Lake City, Utah

“As they learn how to teach their children self-respect and personal responsibilities, parents' anxiety will be replaced with well-founded confidence. Replete with examples of typical parent-child interactions, this book is an excellent blend of theory and practical application. Parenting Young Children is insightful and inspiring, making an impressive contribution to the field of parent education.”
Eileen Shiff, editor, Experts Advise Parents
