In 2001, Rebecca W. Keller, Ph.D., began formalizing her teaching materials to equip non-science teachers (usually other home schooling moms) so they would feel comfortable teaching science disciplines to their children. She didn't set out to be an author. A former research assistant professor at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, Dr. Keller worked in the molecular biology, chemistry and neuroscience fields. As she home schooled her three children, this scientific background coupled with her love of the dramatic, led her to prepare interesting experiments or "labs" for her children and their friends. This success in engaging kids in science prompted her to launch the Real Science-4-Kids program.
