Concrete Charlie: An Oral History of Philadelphia's Greatest Football Legend Chuck Bednarik. Bednarik grew up in a steel town; was a product of the Depression; is a World War II hero; was an All-American, All-Pro, and Hall of famer during his 18 years playing in Philadelphia for Penn and the Philadelphia eagles; and has been married to his college sweetheart, Emma, for over sixty years. He is a man who never says less than precisely what is on his mind. This book tells it all.

He was a great player for Philadelphia. He became more famous because of it [the hit]. Sadly, we are linked together. --Frank Gifford, former star, New York Giants --review
I was trying to get up field, and 'BAM', old Chucky Boy hits me. --Jim Taylor, running back, Green Bay Packers --review
He's awesome. He was a tough guy and he's still a tough guy. If he says he could still play today, I wouldn't put it past him. -- Andy Reid, Head Football Coach, Philadelphia Eagles --review
