Dr. Afsar is a well-known poet and literary critic in the South Indian language Telugu. He has published four volumes of poetry and two volumes of literary theory in Telugu. Afsar has a recognition as a trend-setting poet and literary theorist in the post-1980s Telugu literature. Afsar has won the prestigious Bhasha Saraswati Samman Award from the Government of India for his book of poems in 2008. Afsar is currently teaching South Asian cultures and Telugu language at the University of Texas at Austin, USA. Vamsi Krishna is a well-known poet and a short-story writer in Telugu. He has published five volumes of creative writing in Telugu. Vamsi has been writing actively about cultural activism in Telugu since 2000. Vamsi has won several awards for his contribution to Telugu language and literature. Currently working in rural banking sector, Vamsi is well-known for his treatment of new economics in his writings. Vamsi's new book on literary criticism will be published in the year 2011.
