J. J. and Henri are sixth graders who receive important gifts from their grandparents. J. J. gets a bracelet, and Henri receives a necklace. These give them the ability to control time. Johnny (J. J.), Henrietta (Henri), and Dr. Emory (Dr. M) could be your next-door neighbors. They are outgoing, friendly, and willing to help out anytime. J. J. and Henri are finishing their last few weeks in sixth grade at Millville Elementary School. Dr. M is a well-liked and respected sixth grade teacher. Millville is a small but vibrant town. There are several lakes nearby providing fishing, boating, and swimming. Two years ago both kids lost their fathers in a mysterious disappearance. Only their grandmothers and Dr. M know where they are. The story starts out with a treasure hunt that results in J. J. finding the bracelet his great-grandfather has left him. It’s an ancient piece that has special powers that only J. J. can access. Henri’s grandmother lives on a nearby lake. She gives Henri the necklace while on a boating trip across the lake to a special picnic area. A spy overhears Gramma Tessie tell Henri about the mysterious power of the necklace. The story follows these kids and two of their close friends as they grow, mature, and develop courage, character, and a belief in themselves. They have successes and failures just like everyone else and grow stronger through their experiences. J. J. first uses his power over time when his good friend, Mike, falls out of a cherry tree they have climbed together many times and dies. Henri first uses her power when she and her good friend, Erika, are caught in the back of a convenience store when a masked robber comes in and fires a gun during a robbery. Dr. M is a mentoring teacher who will help guide the kids as they learn to control their powers. He and the kids’ grandmothers share a deadly secret they soon must share with the kids regarding their futures. A threat to the Earth’s water supply looms and the future of the entire world will rest on the shoulders of J. J., Henri, Mike, and Erika. An ancient prophecy is about to be fulfilled and a battle against overwhelming odds will soon materialize. Dr. M must guide the kids in the understanding and use of their powers before it is too late.

D. A. Lee has taught 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students for 36 years, so he knows quite a bit about how kids in that age group think. Now that he has retired, Mr. Lee has switched from educator to entertainer of young minds. During the past tow years Mr. Lee has returned to his hometown to speak in several classrooms. He completed two 600 mile trips around the state of Michigan the past two years. "it was a thrilling experience to speak with so many students. "Hearing the kids groan when I stop reading, leaving them wanting to hear what comes next lets me know that I have their attention. HOw thrilling is that? I like to involve the students in my talk so they feel a part of it. What more could one ask for than to talk and work with youngsters in a school setting? It is so much fun hearing the questions the kids ask. I want the kids to feel I am there to listen to them as well as to give my ideas about writing. That's what makes it so much fun." Mr. Lee has been writing for just over two years. He has completed two books in a four book series featuring the same main characters. They are growing up within the story. Mr. Lee is currently speaking to schools throughout the greater Phoenix area. Plans are being made to speak in California and again in Michigan. He donates books to the schools where he speaks, and there is no charge for his services. Besides speaking with students about self esteem, setting goals and never giving up on your dreams, Mr. Lee has also made over 3,000 wooden toys that he regularly donates to charities. Most of D. A. Lee's writing is done in a mountain setting amidst the pine trees. He does all of his writing in long hand with gel pens.
