In today s business world, change of many kinds technological, economic, social, and environmental is outpacing the ability of organizations to predict it and manage it. As a result, the single most important capacity any company can develop is the power to adapt to change, and to do so rapidly, intelligently, and effectively. In Adaptive Capacity: How Organizations Can Thrive in a Changing World, Juan Carlos Eichholz business consultant and acclaimed professor offers a compelling analysis of the adaptive challenge. Through vivid examples involving organizations ranging from HP and Google to Telefonica and the US Marines, Eichholz provides a set of practical tools and ideas any leader can begin using immediately to succeed in a changing world.

Adaptive Capacity is the Holy Grail for all organizations and societies that seek to thrive in a changing and challenging world. And this book points the way. It gives us all a new foundation, not only to lead organizations to achieve short-term adaptive success, but much more significantly, to meet the torrent of adaptive dangers and opportunities we face today and into the future. Positive and hopeful, it is a profoundly insightful book and a wonderful read.

Change happens. Everyone knows and experiences the onslaught of change. Eichholz s insights in Adaptive Capacity enable leaders to ask and answer the right questions that surmount change. The frameworks and tools around purpose, strategy, structure, culture, and talent are well conceived and practical. This is a well written, timely, and superb book.--Dave Ulrich, Rensis Likert Professor, Ross School of Business, University of Michigan
This book lays out the paradigm, purpose and practice of adaptive leadership the what, why and how in a concise, cut-to-the-chase format, interspersing stories that illustrate the principles in clear and compelling ways. The second part of the book, my favorite, is a guide to the practice of building adaptive capacity. Adaptive Capacity is an excellent, helpful addition to the adaptive leadership literature.
