Courtney King Dye began riding horses at nine years old and went on to represent the United States at the 2007 and 2008 World Cups aboard Idocus and at the 2008 Beijing Olympics aboard Harmony's Mythilus. In 2010, she sustained a traumatic brain injury when a horse she was riding tripped and fell, and her accident provoked world-wide attention to helmet use as well as instigating many rule changes requiring approved headgear in several equestrian disciplines. She continues to teach dressage lessons and has become an active supporter of the next generation of international riders. She lives with her husband and daughter in New Milford, Connecticut.
